Born in Tokyo. Yukari Kiyono is a Japanese coloratura soprano. She studied singing at Kunitachi College of Music, where she also completed her Master degree (speciality: Opera), then she was a member of the opera studio at the New National Theatre Tokyo. In 2015, she was granted a fellowship sponsored by the Japanese Government to study under Maria Francesca Cavazza in Nürnberg in Germany.
In September 2016, she sung “The Queen of the night” in Die Zauberflöte at the Aichi Triennale Opera production for children. Subsequently she made her debut in Tokyo Nikikai Opera Production as “Zerbinetta” in Ariadne auf Naxos at Nissay Theatre in a staging by Karoline Grüber. In 2017, she participated in the production of Carmen as a cover cast of Frasquita at the New National Theatre Tokyo. She also appeared as “Nerine” in the French Baroque Opera Les Paladins produced by Joy Ballet Studio. In November 2017, she returned to Nissay Theatre to perform “Adele” in Die Fledermaus directed by Andreas Homoki which was a huge success. Until now she has already sung “Musetta” La Bohème, “Berenice” L’occasione fa il ladro, “Despina” Cosi fan tutte, “Zerlina” Don Giovanni.
She is a member of Tokyo Nikikai Opera Foundation.
